How difficult is it to travel 7+ hours with a 10 month old?

My brother-in-law wants to have my husband's family come for New Year's. I personally HATE the drive to South Carolina from Alabama. I can only imagine how my 10 month old daughter will handle it. She's a great baby overall, but sometimes she gets ill when riding in the car. By then, she'll be in a car seat that sits upright. If she ends up sleeping a lot, her neck will probably be sore. Should I be concerned or am I overreacting?

Well my girl was 13 months, not 10, but we drove to Corpus Christi, which is about the same travel time for us that you're talking about. We just threw all the rules out the window. For example: she normally was not allowed to have a binky except when she was sleeping but we let her have one the entire trip if she wanted it.
Oh and the sore neck thing... babies are made of rubber. A stunt like that would have us on muscle relaxers for day, but kiddos that young could sleep in a head stand and wake up fine. Just put the seat in the most reclined position possible and supply any and every creature comfort she wants.
We took another trip (even longer) this past summer when she was 17mos. She normally sleeps til 11am or noon. We hit the road at 4am. We got everything ready, got the car started and LASTLY got her up, changed her diaper in the dark and put her in the car in her pjs. She slept most of the way there.
