What port is this on the side of my laptop?

I have a port on the side of my laptop and I'd like to know what it is for. It would be easier if I had a digital camera but I will try to describe it in some detail. The diameter is almost exactly the same as ps/2. It has 2 holes on the left and 2 holes on the right. The bottom two holes are slightly closer to the sides than the top two. The shape is slightly mushroom shaped, probably to keep the orientation right. There is a small rectangular hole in the stem of the mushroom (probably for a plastic orientation pin). There is also a slight indentation at the tippy top. Hopefully this will ring a bell for someone. It is also labelled enigmatically S-> on the laptop. Any ideas?
