where do you stand with regards the law if you cannot wear a seatbelt cos it doesn't fit you?

Someone said you could get a letter from your Doctor, but someone else said you could get a belt extension. Basically my husband is very tall and about 20 stone, as a driver the seat belt fits, albeit a little tight, but as a passenger it doesn't fit at all. The obvious answer is lose weight, but that's not going to solve my problem immediately. I worry in case we are in an accident and I also don't want to be fined. Advice please

Get the belt extensions...Doctors wont write excuses for seat belt law it could make them liable in an accident........Belt extensions are best and easiest way......Good Luck !!
