Well, I'll start by saying that a poem is not something that has a universal meaning -- it's important what the poem feels like to you, what images are important to you, why words resonate and why.

That said, I'll answer what this poem suggests to me. You should feel very free to disagree.

You have the entire instrument assemble of a salsa band for sale a pawn shop. So the central image is of the discarded tools of a presumably failed band. Why did they fail? Was it they lost interest? Was it that the public doesn't like salsa-bands? Were they no good? Was the culture of salsa music twindling? The poem doesn't answer. What it does answer is the feeling: it doesn't suggest that the instruments are signals of new beginnings, and a new life and a new interest away from salsa. It signals the death of something, the morning, and the loss of something precious: items in a pawnshop like tags on a corpse.

On a second level, I would say that the poem has very specifically cultural undertones. I assume Martin Espada is a Latin poet and is writing about the clash of his cultural heritage with the machine of American cultural assimilation. He seems to be suggesting that his cultural heritage is loosing ground: the discarded instruments of a salsa band are like the death of the very music they played. Additionally, you should note the irony in the decidedly American-centric name of the pawn shop: Liberty Loan. Is the central question of the poem to what degree American "Liberty" demands the death of a non-American cultural heritage? You decide.
