Would it be stupid to use a rolling luggage bag as a substitute for a rolling backpack?

I was wondering if it would look stupid to use a rolling luggage bag instead of a rolling backpack. To get a good one, I'd be looking at around at least $80 but I know that my parents, etc. have different sizes of rolling luggage cases. They kind of look like rolling backpacks in a way except they don't have the straps.
