Gardner's Debut - Yankees Defeat the Red Sox

Longoria has 16 home runs; a draw with Bob Hamelin (Kansas City 1994) as the second newly rookie with more home runs before the All-Star Game in the 20 last years.

Marshall (1-2) managed a win for the first time in five openings after allowing a run and six unstoppable hits in six innings. Aside from the Ludwick's home run with an out in the sixth inning, the Cardinals only had other two runners in position to score against the left-handed launcher. 

In the meantime, the Dominican Fernando Tatis batted a home run of two runs in the twelfth inning taking the New York Mets to a victory of 4-2 over the Philadelphia Phillies, in a game that lasted more than seven hours.
