University of California VS Bakke court case?

I have to argue the University Of California's case in a presentation for my government class tomorrow. Could anyone please help me? I need to argue why it was ok for the university to not let Bakke attend their school. Please help thank you!

The major dissenting argument in that case was the issue of critical mass. Critical mass means that the state has a compelling interest of having diversity in the medical community. And giving minorities an advantage should be used when taking a holistic approach, but that schools cannot use numbered quota systems.

Here is the part of the Justice Powell's dissent in that case that favored UC Davis on the issue of Bakke not being a disadvantaged minority and that giving minorities priority was ok:

"Increasing racial diversity in classrooms was a compelling state interest, and that a more narrowly tailored program--such as one that gave "pluses" to minority applicants rather than putting them into a seperate admission track--would not violate the Constitution."
