There have been many great teams in the NCAA since its creation. One of the greatest schools of all time is the UCLA Bruins. They are the school with the most championships in the history of the association. They currently have won a total of 104 team championships. The school with the second most championships is Stanford with 97 team championships. This does not mean that these schools have to most total wins out of all the schools, it just means they have won the most championships. During the 2008-2009 school year the Pacific 10 Conference won a staggering 11 NCAA championships. The next two conferences behind the PAC-10 are the ACC and the Big Ten. They each won a total five. There are currently a total of 87 national championships yearly. Forty-four of these are women's and forty are men's. That leaves three other championships, which are the coed sports.

The focus of my website will be mainly on NCAA Division I basketball. There 32 Division I Conferences included in NCAA basketball. In these 32 conferences there are 347 schools that compete for one ultimate goal: a national championship. Each conference receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship tournament. Many people call this tournament March Madness or The Big Dance. Coaches from all three divisions of NCAA basketball get together to determine the rules and regulations of NCAA men's basketball. Many of the rules that are imposed on the NCAA are often used in the NBA, but there are some that are unique to the NCAA. Every NCAA game is divided into two halves that consist of twenty minutes each.

This is different than the NBA or any other level of basketball because all others play four quarters. The NCAA has a 35-second shot clock while the NBA has a 34 second shot clock. The NBA only allows the team 8 seconds to cross half court while the NCAA allows for ten seconds. The three point line in the college game is less distance away than the NBA three point lines. NCAA's three point line used to be the same as high school but it changed in May of 2007. The distance from the three point line to the backboard is now 20 feet nine inches. Another difference in the rules between the NBA and the NCAA is the amount of fouls allowed to each player. The NBA allows each player to receive six personal fouls before being forced to leave the game while the NCAA only allow five fouls. This maintains the same ratio of minutes played and the amount of fouls.

The team that is looking the strongest to win it all this year is the University of Connecticut. They are playing with the best team chemistry at the moment and looking nearly flawless. Winning the NCAA college basketball brackets are going to require the winning team to play with nearly flawless chemistry throughout the entire tournament.

Each and every year there is going to be "Cinderella" teams looking to go far into the March Madness tournament. It never fails year after year! There has been some amazing runs such as George Mason in 2006 going to the final 4! Most people have never even heard of George Mason before! After 2006, just about everyone knows about George Mason now. They had such a remarkable run at the national championship. This is definitely the time for teams to shine or go home. It is one of the worst feelings for teams to choke when they get to the march madness tournament after playing nearly perfect all year round. It happens, quite frequently actually, to the best teams. Only last year we found all number 1 seeds going to the final 4! That has NEVER happened! It was a extremely surprising final 4, especially seeing no number 2 seeds there.
