my cat wakes me up every morning doing this weird stepping motion?

every single morning my white and brown cat cuckoo wakes me and my husband up by using his front legs and stepping on us repeatedly. its kinda like he's sinking his hands in our skin. he puts the left hand down then the right so on and so fourth. kinda like walking in place but only with his hands. he does it to our entire bodies and he meows while he does. at 1st he only did it wen he was in heat but hes neutered now and hasnt been in heat since. now he does it to us wen we are sleep to wake us up.

That stepping motion is called "kneading." My cat does that whenever she is getting ready to snuggle into her blanket for a nice long nap. It's a relaxing gesture, a testing gesture, and also a gesture of affection.

My cat also wakes me up every morning by walking all over me and sticking her nose in my head and meowing and purring loudly. This morning I woke up and she was laying across my neck like a scarf. It was pretty funny.

Sometimes when I am trying to sleep in and I am ignoring her, she stands up on my bed, puts her paws on my nightstand, and fakes like she is about to knock over my lamp, because that always gets my attention.
