what kind of lodging do ppl use for a day-trip?

My husband and I are visiting the inlaws, and will be stopping at downtown silver spring, in md for a day-trip from morning until late afternoon. This place is relatively far from the inlaw house. So It would be nice to have a place to rest in and leave our luggage while we go sight seeing. Most hotels we've called require an overnight stay. what kinds of lodging we can get just for the majority of the day? or even for half a day?

There's a reason why it's called a day trip. Because it's over in a day. If you could find a hotel that rents rooms by the hour, you dont want to stay there. The hookers wont be far away. Those kinds of hotels really dont advertise anyway.

My suggestion is to leave your stuff in the car. Lok at the bright side, this way you have a legitimate reason to be cranky at the in-laws.
