Bayfield Ventures Puts Its Back Into Growing Shareholder Value
Bayfield Ventures Puts its Back into Growing Shareholder Value
By Myrna Davies
June 28, 2007
Junior resource investors know the drill: A prospective junior grabs a land package near a larger company with excellent assays. The could drill, but instead they play a waiting game. Maybe their neighbor will make them an offer they can’t refuse and drive up their share price. Maybe their neighbor’s drill results will drive up their share price. Heck, even speculation of either of the above could drive up a company’s share price. Clutching the coat-tails of those whose successes mask their shortcomings, they take a free ride.
Such is not the case with Bayfield Ventures [TSXV: BYV] who announced this Thursday they are advancing in their aggressive exploration campaign on the Rainy River project. Bayfield has mobilized a diamond drill onto the three properties the company holds in the Rainy River district of Northwestern Ontario. The company is anticipating an estimated 3,000-3,500 metre drill program for the summer beginning next month, says President Donald Huston. The 10-12 hole Phase 1 drill program will encompass all three properties with a concentration on Claim Blocks A (50% interest) and B (100% interest), although Claim Block C (100 % interest) also warrants further exploration.
The drill program is the next step in reaching Bayfield’s goal to develop the gold potential of the project. The company first entered into an agreement to acquire the properties in November of last year and since then has made substantial progress in identifying possible drill targets. “We’ve done a lot of work,†says Huston, “and have spent half a million dollars defining these targets down to the metre.â€
During the winter exploration program Bayfield established line-cut grids and conducted very detailed geophysical studies including electromagnetic and magnetometer surveys. According to Mr. Huston, “both systems have shown a geological context of structures and cross-cutting faults have been identified.†Early exploration work also consisted of overburden drilling and till sampling on Claim Blocks A and B. Bayfield is still awaiting analysis results on the samples obtained from Claim Block A, but expects those to be in soon.
A total of 20 till samples were taken from an average depth of 25 metres below surface from 13 overburden drill sites in Claim Block B. Six of the till samples assayed from 150 ppb gold to in excess of 32,000 ppb gold. Huston says these encouraging results coincide with the mafic/ultramafic geological structures and cross-cutting faults identified from the magnetic survey data. “They all relate to each other and are showing us a picture underground.†These promising findings have allowed Bayfield to identify several high priority drill targets with strong potential to host gold mineralization.
The exciting results Rainy River Resources [TSXV: RR] has had on their neighboring gold properties has aided Bayfield in interpreting its own exploration data and eliminating areas as possible drill targets. All of which saves Bayfield time and money, and provides the company with a strong belief in the promising potential of its own properties. “We look at the high points that Rainy River used as their template, and their methodology,†says Huston.
Claim Blocks A (131 hectares), B (192 hectares), and C (800 hectares) lie southwest, east, and west respectively of Rainy River’s #17 and #433 gold zones, as well as the most recently discovered ODM gold zone. Drill results from the ODM zone show intercepts of 23.5m of 10.6 g/t Au and 22.6m of 17.0 g/t Au. On the basis of these drill results, and others like them, Rainy River’s stock has soared to its present high of $5.00 per share. Bayfield believes the geophysical properties that are associated with the mafic/utlramafic rock sequences identified on the claim blocks are similar to those found in Rainy River’s adjoining zones. “We’re in the same geologic horizon as them,†says Huston. “We believe that we have the potential for a parallel system to [these gold zones]. We know we have parallel geological and geophysical structures. Do these have gold? Well, now we have to drill to see.â€
When the results from the drill program are in, gold might not be the only thing Bayfield sees. The company might also see its stock value rise like that of its neighbor, Rainy River. Just two years ago, Rainy River Resources began working on its project and its share price was sitting at around $0.70 to $0.80. Early in 2006, when the newsworthy results came in from its drill program on zone #17, the company saw its share price jump to around $2.40. By the end of the year, shares in Rainy River were trading between $5.60 and $6.40 in reaction to the release to of the ODM zone drill results.
With its intense exploration programs to date, Bayfield has demonstrated its commitment to adding shareholder value. The company was smart to grab such a highly prospective land package so close to its neighbor’s successes. Sampling and trenching further added to the excitement here. Now, with a significant drill program commencing in the coming days, Bayfield is intent on establishing its Rainy River holdings as the next big thing in this newly flourishing gold region.
To reach that goal, they’ve initiated a very aggressive 6 to 8 month exploration program. “There’s a lot of work planned,†says Huston. “We have a lot of acreage that needs to be drilled. It takes time, but we’re an explorationist company; that’s what we do. We’re prospectors looking for the mother-lode, hoping to be as successful as our neighbors, Rainy River Resources, who have already made a discovery here.â€

Weight Problems I need help.?
Well i am about maybe 14 pounds over weight. I need to find good foods to eat and exercises. I am in Junior high. And school starts in about three weeks or so. If i exercise Maybe two hours a day eats fruits veggies. And i exercise on a treadmill. How much do you think i could lode before i go back to school? I should weigh 80- 87 pounds i way 96 pounds! So i need help to what i should eat exercise ect. And can you atleast guess how much weight i could lose?
Eat healthy with lots of small meals throughout the day and go light on carbs like pasta and rice. Work out a lot but don't get obsessed! If you are working out, even if you don't lose all 14 pounds you will look good because you will be reshaping yourself as well. Safe weight loss is supposed to be about two pounds a week. You usually lose more the first week because some of it is water weight. Make sure and drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated and to flush out fat and toxins while you are losing. Whatever you do, DONT starve yourself, it will always backfire and just slows down your metabolism in the long run. Good luck and be smart about it.
