What is the difference between a pair of $350 designer jeans and a pair from The Gap?

I can't believe some people would pay that even more for a pair of jeans!!! Is there any difference? Because after all jeans are just cotton and a zipper, not cashmere/leather/mink, COTTON!!! Will you enlighten me please?

People just buy expensive ones ecause they are labelled and wanana look 'cool'
Theres like, no point in buying expensive ones, there just as good as the other ones lol
