Do you pronounce "carry" & "Kerry" the same, or "tot" and "taught"?

Apparently most people in the states pronounce them the same, and I used to when I was a kid but changed it as I got older. it all depends on what part of the country you're from. New Yorkers seem to keep these vowels most distinct (probably the higher-class education and the international culture).

I'm from California, so I pronounce these words as you have described.
