Taking your own pillow/blanket on long international flights? Should I take my own blanket and pillow for a long international flight? I know that the airlines usually have blankets and tiny pillows that they give out, but I worry that they'll run out or that I won't be comfortable. Do people typically bring their own? Of course if I bring my own, I'll have to drag it everywhere when I reach my destination, so maybe I shouldn't do that. What do you do in this situation?
Hi. Whenever i travel, i always take a pillow. It is SOO comfortable. You dose off much easier because the pillow is soft, and BIG! the plane ones are at least 1/5 of the size. I have never taken a blanket, seeing as all airlines big semi-decent blankets, but if you see necessary, then by all means. Its very uncommon for someone to bring a pillow on board. But, its not looked at strangely - but rather as the 'smart bastard'. I can agree, that carrying the pillow around is annoying, BUT if you have a large enough carry on bag, and the pillow fits in, then it is perfect. You will not believe how much it helps you sleep, let alone in those hotels afterwards - with the brick pillows. I just put mine in my hand luggage - the security don't mind as it is light - and after take off, and the meal (as usually its about 20min after fully taking off) i take my pillow out, and almost always get a wonderful 5 hours sleep, usually leaving me with another 5 to watch some movies in comfort. I must add though, the pillow does take up space, and if you are traveling by yourself, make sure you have a window seat, so that you can rest on the wall. If you get stuck with a isle seat, the person next to you might get a bit annoyed. If your traveling with a partner etc, then having an isle seat works better because you can rest in towards each other with the pillow on the arm rest. have fun:) From Investopedia More>> Thanks for visiting!

I picked up the idea from a lovely woman, about 5 years ago, and since have never flown without a pillow.
A pillow from home is always best.
