1st or 3rd person for my story?

I am having trouble deciding wether to write my story in first person or third.
it is about a girl who is different from normal people (basically she is dead, like a vampire in the way that they are still alive although she doesnt have powers and doesnt thirst for blood!)
The girl, Fleur Black, was imprisoned with the rest of the people like her but she beaks free and goes to a city. There the adventure unfolds, she meets aboy who knows more about what she is than what she think and they become friends.
it is an exciting adventure story.
(Through out the story you find out what Fleur is)

Hmmm... that's a tough one. I was going to say third-- it would help retain the mystery of who Fleur better--but first would help with emotions.

I would suggest third. BUT, you could also do both: Have some parts be from Fleur's (or someone else's) point of view (first person), and then have some parts be in third.
