Even the Bad Headlines About the Pope, Richard Williamson and the Catholic Church Cannot Tarnish the Beauty of the Vatican
Online Travel Guide tripwolf.com helps you explore the wonders of the Vatican
The Pope, Catholic Church, Richard Williamson: they dominate the headlines, unfortunately not with good tidings. With all the negative press, you can almost forget how incredibly beautiful the city of Rome and the Vatican are.
--> Travel worshipers, who wish to see all those churches, cathedrals and art treasures can now access all the information via the online travel guide tripwolf here: http://www.tripwolf.com/en/guide/show/13079/Vatican-City
Nobody is unaffected by a visit to Rome. Visitors to the Eternal City can expect an almost unparalleled concentration of sights—The Forum Romanum, Fontana di Trevi, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona—the list of cultural treasures is endless. Add to the mix a lust for life, chaotic and charming architecture, and excellent Mediterranean cuisine, and you get what is commonly referred to as "Bella Italia"
The Vatican - Rome's jewel
St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel, and Vatican Museums: the Pope resides and reigns in the Vatican. For centuries, the Catholic Church was one of the dominant powers of Europe. Today, the Pope's reign is confined to an approximately 0.4 square kilometer enclave in the smallest country in the world with less than 1,000 citizens. Although the Pope’s influence remains once of the greatest in the modern world.
The Vatican is in a Roman district, that in pre-Christian times was called vaticanus mons (Prophetic hill). Although the Vatican is religious in essence, it contains first-class museums ranging from Egyptian antiquities to modern religious art. The entrance fee allows access to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and the Lateran (due to extensive renovations, the Library of the Vatican will remain closed until 2010).
Before heading back to Rome, don’t forget to visit the St. Peter’s Cathedral, which according to the legend, contains the remains of the first Pope. A walk through St. Peter’s Square, will reinvigorate even the most tired tourist.
The complete guide to the Vatican is available here: http://www.tripwolf.com/en/guide/show/13079/Vatican-City
