any ideas how to disarm an air bag on a steering wheel???

just bought an after market steering wheel for my vauxhall astra (V REG 99) just wonderin if any one can give me any advice on how to fit it. thanks

The drivers airbag is not meant to be disarmed if you want to change the steering wheel for an aftermarket one that does not contain an airbag the airbag warning light will come on permanently. If you are going to remove the original wheel with an airbag you will need to remove the battery connections and wait for at least 15 minutes before removing the airbag to allow any residual charge to go,and even then you have to be very careful. They have an explosive charge in them and they have been known to kill people. i'm not trying to scare you I'm just warning you.
