Brown paper bags

Brown paper bags where first mentioned in historical reference that paper bags where being produced back in 1630 for use as paper grocery bags and manufactured by hand. In 1852 an American named Francis Wolle invented the paper bag- making machine. He patented it in the United States in 1852 and later in France and England. It was the first of its kind, and covered the fundamental design of many similar machines that are still used today. Further advancements during the 1870s included glued paper sacks and the gusset design.
The Union Paper Bag Machine Company was setup by Francis Wolle and his brother in 1869. They opened their factory in in Savannah, Georgia and employed over 500 workers. The next major advancement in paper bags occurred with Margaret Knight and is credited with about 90 inventions and 22 patents. Her patents covered textile and shoe-making machinery, domestic devices, and even a automobile engine. Her greatest success however, was the first machine to make block bottom bags while working at the Columbia Paper Bag Company in Springfield, Massachusetts. At first her employer complained that she was spending too long on the device. When she told him she might consider selling the rights if it worked, he gave in. After doing thousands of trial bags on a wooden machine, she had a iron one manufactured in Boston.

How can I "brown bag" a lunch in a professional office?

To save money, I'd like to pack a lunch and bring snacks with me to my job. Years ago, I would just throw food into a plastic grocery bag. I have a higher level position now, and don't want to bring anything tacky. The brown paper "lunch" bags are not large enough. How does everyone else bring their lunches? Is there a streamlined, insulated bag that is plain and professional looking?

I've seen a lot of women put lunch, drinks, snacks, etc in gift bags and take it to work.
