How can I find an old church, barn, etc in Austin to turn into a house?

I would be interested in anything that could be turned into a cool place to live.

"in Austin" is a pretty wide open area - I recommend you find a realtor that will search for commercial properties all around Travis County. Old churches are considered commercial, and barns are farm dwellings - both have tax issues/zoning you may need to research.

But buyer beware, the flash flooding Central TX experiences may have affected an older property several times.

Drive around the area until you get a feel for what you are looking for. I've watched those shows on HGTV too about converting buildings into homes - what's missing is the cost. It can't be cheap and in today's housing market, might not be considered an investment.
