The lake is a true jewel of Kastoria and one of the most beautiful in Greece. In 1974, Lake Orestiada was named a "National Monument of Natural Beauty" by the Culture Ministry, and construction around its perimeter is controlled. In addition, it is a reserve for prey animals. 

Kastoria is considered an ideal destination for sports and nature lovers. There are choices for all tastes. You can either ski at the Vitsios ski resort or trek on the mountain slopes, amid wild and beautiful nature. The winter landscape just amazing. Another landmark of the city is the Aliakmonas River, which is suitable for rowing or walking along its banks, enjoying the calm of nature. 

Kastoria caters to religious tourism, as there are more than 75 Byzantine churches in the city and its outskirts. Each church hides priceless religious heirlooms. 

The lakeside prehistoric settlement of Dispilio will provide archaeology lovers with a lot of answers. A tour of the local villages will enchant you. Their tradition and history have blended with modern civilization to create a special Macedonian culture. Kleisoura, Argos Orestiko, Nostimo, Nestorio, Eptachori, Korissos, Omorfoklisia - each town or village carries its own history, particularities and unique features. 

VERGINA 

THANKS TO THE PERSISTENT EFFORTS of archaeologist Manolis Andronikos, one of the country's most important archaeological finds came to light. His tireless pick located one of the greatest centers of Macedonian Hellenism, the city of Aeges, which acted as the capital of the Macedonian Kingdom for a long time. The digs unearthed the acropolis, the palace, the sanctuary of Euclea, the ancient theatre, where Philip II was assassinated and Alexander the Great coroneted in 336 B.C. 

The most important of all finds is perhaps the tomb of Philip, found untouched. It has two chambers and a facade with sculptures, metopes and paintings, similar to a Doric temple. Inside, the ashes of the king, his chryselephantine shield, golden armour and thorax were found. The king's wreath, made of golden oak leaves, was also found in the tomb, and has since become the symbol of the region. 

It is believed that one of the king's wives was buried in the second chamber. Some unique artifacts, such as a diadem of myrtle leaves, were found there. Another tomb was later discovered in the region and is believed to belong to Alexander IV, the son of Alexander the Great and Roxanne. 

Among the most amazing possessions brought to light are the art objects, some military and other for daily use, coins, statuettes, etc, as well as the splendid murals, statues and grave steles. They are all samples of the acme, wealth and artistic level reached at that time. 

EDESSA WARETFALLS DID NOT ALWAYS EXIST AS THEY ARE TODAY. Until the end of the 14th century, the main bulk of water was collected in a small basin, west of the city. Then, the waters (possibly after some geological or meteorological phenomenon) were unleashed through the city and spectacularly dropped over the rock, creating many small pools and leading to the disappearance of the first lake. 

Many 17th and 18th century travelers depicted the city as a rock with waterfalls. For today's visitor, it would be hard to imagine that, a few decades ago, the waterfalls were an insignificant part of the town. Hidden behind the dense vegetation, a little abandoned at the end of the rock, it was then considered an undertaking or a small adventure to walk down the difficult it paths to admire or photograph them. 

Today, the waterfalls are an impressive sight of infinite, beauty. One can easily admire the big waterfall, "Karana", where the water smashes down from a height of 70 meters, the double waterfall, as well as the cave beneath the rock. There is an info kiosk that provides information to visitors and an outdoor Water Museum.

You mean a Tactical borg cube? Hey good question. Seeing as how this new ship did use borg technology to enhance it, I'd say they maybe have around the same technology. However, because it was only a "simple mining ship", and a tactical borg cube is pretty much JUST for battle, I'd have to say the cube, just because it was made to fight, not like a mining ship.
